    variety of menu choices
    poor quality meat

Excellent was the festive lunch menu with perfectly presented dishes.

The ribeye steak cut was subpar and could be improved.

Would definitely recommend for a rapid stop

Comfortable room, friendly staff, and the great Scottish breakfast was a delicious highlight of my stay that provided the perfect energy to explore the local area, with a convenient off-site car park for easy access.

    Nothing could be improved.

    comfortable rooms
    friendly staff
    limited arrangements
    basic amenities
    menu variety

Comfortable rooms with a boutique feel made for a pleasant visit, and the staff's friendliness truly stood out. Enjoying wood-fired pizzas and a fresh, cooked-to-order Scottish breakfast added to the experience. the lack of flexible room arrangements was a slight drawback, and there could have been more variety in the menu for longer stays. some amenities were basic and could use an update.

    great food
    clean room
    small room
    weak wifi

the staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made my stay really nice. food was delish, especially the evening meal that was nicely presented. my room was clean and had a decent shower. Huge fluffy towels. it's in a great spot, easy to find in the center. loved that it was full of locals, felt really cozy!

the room was a bit small for my taste, and the parking situation was tricky with no dedicated car park. also, the wifi was pretty weak, barely connected.

    outdoor beer garden

    cozy bar area
    quirky layout
    traffic noise

Had a cracking time at The Birchtree, especially with the lovely outdoor beer garden and the delicious salt and chilli chicken that hit all the right notes! the cozy bar area felt warm and welcoming, perfect for chilling after a day of exploring.

A bit quirky having the shower and sink right in the room, and there was some traffic noise in the morning. The fan in the WC was a bit of a puzzle, too—couldn’t turn it off!

    Exceptional Breakfast and Friendly Staff

I had a lovely overnight stay at this hotel, where the breakfast was outstanding with a fantastic variety, particularly enjoying the freshly made poached eggs. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, making our experience even more enjoyable. The location was ideal for exploring the nearby attractions. My only suggestion for improvement would be to enhance the seating options in the bar area for comfort.

The cozy bar area felt warm and welcoming, with charming decor that reminded me of lovely afternoons at home. It's also very accessible for seniors, making it easy to navigate and enjoy a delightful stay.

great access to parks and delicious food nearby

During my stay, I found the town center to be vibrant and filled with great dining options, like the Galloway Soup Company just a minute away, and Colliston Park, which was only a short walk of a few steps—perfect for my city strolls and enjoying the outdoors. the atmosphere at breakfast was enjoyable with a nice variety to choose from, ensuring I was fueled for my explorations. Perfect for a cozy getaway

I stayed here for a night and the food was just exceptional, like an art on a plate. The staff were absolutely friendly, the bar man really went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed, even gave us some great cocktail tips!

It wasn't exactly cheap, but still acceptable for the experience.
